Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has confirmed that his team aims to make history when they face Paris Saint-Germain at Villa Park on Tuesday evening in the second leg of their 2024/25 Champions League quarter-final.

In statements reported by the BBC, Emery said: “I have a lot of experience turning results around, both positive and negative, but this time it’s different. We have a dream that we want to achieve here at Villa Park.”

He added: “We are aiming to make history with Aston Villa, just as we did last season in the Europa Conference League, and now we are continuing our journey in the Champions League this year, and we hope to continue that on the European stage for years to come.”

The Spanish manager continued: “Paris has great experience playing away from home. They are accustomed to European atmospheres, and so are we. If we can connect with our fans and instill positive energy in them, and deliver strong performances individually and collectively, we will encourage them to support us strongly, and that will make a big difference.”

Emery highlighted the importance of tactical details in the match, saying, “We need to implement our plan as best as possible and understand the nature of individual confrontations on the pitch. The players are the heroes of the match, and we all have to give our best.”

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of taking advantage of the home advantage and the fans: “We will do our best to give our best tactically, and we believe we can win. We respect Paris, as we did in the first leg, but now we are at home, and we have to make Villa Park our fortress.”

The first leg ended with Aston Villa losing to Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 at the Parc des Princes.
